To all our Bearded Brothers and Sisters,
We know a lot is happening with the evolving COVID-19 situation, and wanted to let you know what the current situation is with the 2021 Beard & Moustache World Champs.
We remain committed to bringing you the World Champs next year. Unfortunately, during this time there is a lot of uncertainty in terms of hospitality and tourism, areas which will most affect everyone who plans to travel to our beautiful country.
Like many other clubs around the world we had to cancel or postpone recent local events, but we are confident that everything will be back to normal sooner than later.
The most important news is that the date for the 2021 Beard & Moustache World Champs in New Zealand is currently set for Saturday, April 10th at the Hunua Rooms, Aotea Centre, Auckland. However, due to the current pandemic, this decision will be revisited in no later than 3 months' time and rescheduled if necessary.
The competition will last one (1) day, similar to the last World Champs hosted in Belgium and will include the "Whiskerinas" on the same day. We will host a pre-function event the night before and we will try to organise a parade on Sunday if we have sufficient numbers.
While we cannot stop you from looking at or booking flights and accommodation, we advise you to wait before making any purchases as things are changing daily and there is always the sad possibility we may have to move the date to later in the year. Consequently, we have decided to wait to open registration at this stage.
As you would expect, we're staying on top of the latest advice from the New Zealand Government and health authorities and continue to respond accordingly. We will update you as the situation evolves.
You may always contact us with questions and we will replay personally as soon as possible.
Take care and be safe!
